Remote Inspection of Automatically Delimited Working Areas at Distribution Level (Use Case #2)
Smart5Grid will demonstrate the capabilities of the developed 5G platform and of the NetApp for the remote inspection of automatically delimited working areas at distribution level through the deployment of a private 5G network. The developed NetApp (i) will generate a detailed 3D volumetric model of the configuration of the power grid assets where the work will be carried out, (ii) it will automatically delimitate the working areas and the authorized personnel, (iii) it will permit the real-time communication of big data generated from the existing permanent and manual sensors and cameras within the working area, (iv) it will allow the real-time remote control of the work and capture the movements of the different operators (authorized and non-authorized), and (v) it will provide instant warning signals and alerts. It is expected that the developed 5G private network shall support peak data rate of 10 Gbps.
Demonstration setup: The Remote Inspection of Automatically Delimited Working Areas at Distribution Level use case will be performed in an urban Spanish primary substation with open air busbars located in Barcelona, Spain. A MEC platform will be deployed in the primary substation with virtualization capabilities. This cluster will support a virtualized mobile core network, like e.g., virtual 5G Core, depending on the selected 5G deployment mode, and the virtualized Machine Learning (ML) inference models that will be developed to support this use case.
